Breast Change During Pregnancy

By: Lucy Doyle

Your body will undergo a great deal of changes during your pregnancy. What many women are particularly worried about is what changes may happen to their breasts. This is very understandable as a woman's breasts are considered her sexiest body part.

What changes can you expect to happen to your breasts?

First of all, be prepared for some changes. There's little you can do about it. Your breasts are going to change and usually for the worse. But there are a number of things you can do to minimize or even prevent the damage to how they look.

Around the time of the beginning of your second trimester, you will experience an increase in your breast size. Some women may expect a moderate growth, while others may see a massive explosion in breast size. Your nipples will also change in shape and size as they will stick out more and enlarge. Your aerola will also increase in size.

The enlragement in your breast size can lead to a number of problems, such as sagging and stretch marks. Stretch marks occur when the ligaments in your breasts stretch due to the rapid growth of your breasts.

What can you do about it?

First, invest in a good supportive bra. Your breasts will likely be too large for your pre-pregnancy bras. You need a new bra which will support your breast and reduce the strain on your ligaments. This will help you prevent sagging breasts and stretch marks.

Second, you should strengthen your chest muscles so they can bear the weight of your enlarged breasts.

If you do both those things, you may be able to prevent the cnages to your breasts from causing you to have stretch marks and sagging breasts.
